Solving Domain Connection Issues with Systeme.io

Are you struggling to connect your domain to Systeme.io? You're not alone. Many users face issues during this process, and we’ve identified a common problem and its solution. In this post, we'll walk you through the steps to successfully connect your domain to Systeme.io.

Introduction

Hey everyone, Dana here from Zero to Income. Sean and I have been diving into Systeme.io to see if it's something we’d recommend. Full disclosure: we’re affiliates of Systeme.io, so technically, they sponsor this content. Today, I want to share a fix for an issue you might encounter when connecting your domain to Systeme.io.

The Problem

After opening my Systeme.io account and attempting to connect our domain (zero-to-income.com), I ran into an issue with their instructions. This problem might be specific to certain domain providers—in my case, Name.com—but it’s something you should be aware of if you’re having trouble.

Step-by-Step Guide to Fix the Issue

  1. Accessing Custom Domains:
    • Log in to your Systeme.io account.
    • Navigate to Settings > Custom Domains.
    • Click the button at the top right to add a new domain.
  2. Following Systeme.io’s Instructions:
    • Systeme.io will provide instructions to modify your DNS entries. These instructions will include adding a CNAME record.
  3. Editing DNS Entries:
    • Log in to your domain provider account (e.g., Name.com).
    • Open your DNS settings.
    • Begin adding the values provided by Systeme.io.
  4. The Critical Detail:
    • When adding the CNAME record, Systeme.io may provide values that end with a period. This is where the issue arises.
    • Important: Remove any periods at the end of the values. The values should not end with a period.
  5. Example:
    • Host: www
    • Value: your-subdomain.systeme.io (without the trailing period)
  6. Finalizing the Connection:
    • After editing the DNS entries correctly, return to Systeme.io.
    • Click "Add Domain" and follow any further instructions provided.

Why This Happens

This issue might be specific to your domain provider. Some providers, like Name.com, don’t accept DNS values ending with a period. Others, like GoDaddy, might handle it differently. Removing the period ensures compatibility and successful connection.

Conclusion

If you've been frustrated trying to connect your domain to Systeme.io, this simple tip could be the solution. Removing the trailing period from the DNS values might be all you need to get your domain connected seamlessly.
